PONTIANAK INFORMASI, NASIONAL – Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika, Budi Arie Setiadi, mengungkapkan adanya usulan untuk menerapkan pajak bagi industri judi online.
Pernyataan ini disampaikan Budi Arie Setiadi saat Rapat Kerja dengan Anggota Komisi I DPR RI di Jakarta pada Senin, 4 September 2023.
Saat itu, dirinya mendapat cecaran dari Anggota Komisi I DPR RI, Christina Ariyani.
Christina Ariyani meminta komitmen dari Menteri Budi untuk memasukkan aturan larangan terhadap perjudian online ke dalam Rancangan Undang-undang Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik (UU ITE).
“Bisa saya minta komitmen bapak untuk memuat aturan larangan perjudian itu kita adopsi di dalam RUU ITE?” tanya Christina.
Budi Arie Setiadi, dalam jawabannya, menggarisbawahi perlunya diskusi yang mendalam sebelum mengambil tindakan apa pun terkait larangan perjudian online.
“Begini Bu Christina, tadi kan saya bilang ini musti diskusinya agak dingin. Karena bukan apa-apa, negara mau larang mau apa bukan soal larangan bukan soal teknologinya,” ungkap Menteri Budi.
Budi kemudian menjelaskan bahwa masalah perjudian online memiliki dimensi transnasional, di mana pelaku judi online dapat beroperasi dari luar negeri, seperti Kamboja dan Thailand, di mana perjudian online diizinkan.
“kita tangkap mereka di Kamboja, di sana judi legal, di Thailand juga sama,” lanjutnya.
“Saya berdiskusi dengan banyak pihak yang berpendapat ‘ya sudah dipajakin aja’, misalnya, dibuat terang dipajakin. Kalau enggak, kita juga kacau,” tambah Budi Arie Setiadi.
Meskipun Budi Arie Setiadi tidak memberikan rincian lebih lanjut mengenai pembahasan tersebut, dia menegaskan bahwa dirinya tidak berada dalam posisi untuk mengambil keputusan terkait usulan memungut pajak dari judi online.
Wakil Ketua Komisi I DPR, Abdul Kharis Almasyhari, menanggapi hal ini dengan mengatakan bahwa usulan memajaki judi online yang disebutkan oleh Menteri Budi hanyalah salah satu alternatif yang dibahas dalam upaya mengatasi perjudian online. Ia juga menegaskan bahwa secara undang-undang, perjudian online tetap dilarang di Indonesia.
“Enggak, itu hanya alternatif-alternatif tapi enggak ada yang setuju kok. Beliau sendiri juga menyampaikan, di Indonesia secara undang-undang itu dilarang,” kata dia kepada CNNIndonesiacom, Selasa (5/9). (ad)
